QQ about people actually taking things in a serious aspect. There are far less important things that are under "Orders" in the Suggestions section from players to Arenanet to fix. This isn't a big request. It isn't a big deal. It would be nice, but no one said this was "Critical." The importance of titles is opinion, and purely that, "Gamer" included. If you don't feel that it's worth having a look at, then you can leave it.

I do see your point here, but I played 5 times in a row last night, each time on Dwayna's team, and we still got our butts handed to us. But I do see your point. And about the Avalanche, it doesn't help that if you're holding a present you move slower than a turtle and snail combined, unless you're a warrior with Let's Get Em!.

Welcome to the triple digits of IQ. You may be feeling some discomfort for the first few days, but eventually, your spelling will become better.

wow, did you even read the OP? i think your triple digits of IQ has FAILED you.
also read what i said again. just because it is beatable doesn't mean it is balanced. 1s cast time on yellow snow, or a change to make it not remove the hidden rock would fix all of this.

And there is the problem -.- Seriously i played up to 100+ times "last night" and i think that those of us who are seriously playing the arena should be the ones posting, not people who have flitted into them for 1-10 games and then left, you cannot judge the greater picture after such a short term in the arena.
Anyway i agree wholeheartedly with a simple buff to Yellow Snow, either 1s cast or don't make it remove Hidden Stone.

I don't believe in overpowered anything. Just people wanting an excuse for losing. Conditions can be removed so why is cripple an issue? Tell you what. Let's nerf the duration of Holiday Blues next. The Ice Fort wammos who stand in it thinking they're immortal will get killed by it.

Avalanche:
- AoE cripple in a game all about running
- 1 second cast time
- skill not glyph, this is very important because this means it doesn't overwrite the all-important hidden rock
Yellow Snow:
- disease is easily spread back to your own team, and running is usually much more important than fighting
- 2 second cast time, faster recharge but it's a...
- glyph, because this ability overwrites hidden rock it's basically never worth using
So someone on Dwayna can spend 1 second to AoE cripple their target, and then someone on Grenth can spend 2 seconds to remove it and lose their hidden rock.
|
look i quoted it to make it easier for you. the effects of avalanche completely outweigh the effects of yellow snow. read the bit in bold, thats the most important for me.

Read this: Use them properly. People have been whining for three years about this and it hasn't been nerfed, while other classes have been nerfed into the ground. What does that tell you? And thanks for the GG. It means a lot to me coming from someone who has yet to understand the meaning of "overpowered".

Give Yellow snow, one second cast.
Problem solved.
Other option.
Make Yellow snow a skill
Problem solved,
I don't think the means of changing something to one second cast takes A-net long.
Max it might take them 5 minutes =P

Sigh at people who say fun is important but balance isn't.
Balance makes fun.
Imabalanced fun is a contradiction of terms.
ps: Yellow Snow is so disgusting (compared to uber Avalanche) that my e-peen goes flaccid as soon as I see it on my skillbar.
pps: The reason Yellow Snow isn't balanced is because ANet wants to give a boost to..less experienced players. So, when they have Avalanche and the other side Yellow Snow, it means you won't lose all the time if you're a bad player. Yeey...not.

That's because you're not good enough a player to notice the difference. That's why noob sword warriors use Mending and experienced sword warriors use Conjure.

please, quote me on where i said avalanche was overpowered. all i said is that snowball fights needs balancing. If you are someone who has yet to learn how to 'read between the lines' my posts indicate that yellowsnow is UNDERPOWERED. Or, fine, if you want to make yourself feel better, Avalanche is overpowered in terms of yellow snow.
i think servant of kali summed up why your argument fails.

I can't see there being any actual debate about the imbalance... anyone who's played 10+ games, and especially people who've played 50-1000 notices clear as day one whole side having an extra RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing CRIPPLE skill in a running capture game is pretty silly. Anyone arguing there's no balance problem is beyond a shadow of a doubt mentally handicapped.
But the thing is, do you really expect them to fix it a festival game or give a crap? Obviously they haven't this long, so they're not going to fix anything.

See Heres the thing.
Snow you piss on.
Does not beat a freaking avalanche.
You know what, lets try that.
Piss on some snow...
Now go fight an avalanche with your yellow snow.
You know whats going to happen?
your going to get
Thus
yellow snow needs a buff.
One second cast time, or turn it into a skill.
If its a skill it stacks with Hidden rock, which is cool.

Snowball arena is generally balanced. The imbalance of class skills isn't much of a problem since you yourself can simply select a good class. The only problem is the imbalance of Avalanche and Yellow Snow.
It is true that taking two evenly matched teams and switching the sides around would probably turn a 5-3 Dwayna win into a 3-5 Grenth defeat.
However, this is an arena where pairings are random. In the VAST majority of matches, one of the two things is true:
1) You are on a bad team.
2) The teams' skill levels are sufficiently distinct that who is Dwayna does not impact the outcome.
In the vast majority of cases, one of the two above points is true and the imbalance of Dwayna and Grenth is meaningless. The only time it really matters is when two good teams face one another. That doesn't happen all that often.
Having the arena be slightly imbalanced thus functions like the promotion mechanism from Randoms; it's designed to keep you from going on epic win streaks and playing for hours on end.
This is a design decision. It is consistent with many other design decisions the ANet team makes, such as the hour counter and auto-kick feature, in the face of people dying during marathon WoW sessions. You should not be surprised by it.

Thats genius.
Lets make teams unfair so that a good team cannot win all the time!
It's not meaningless.
1 good player can make up the difference in skill by enough for it to matter.

Not all ways. Whats with pvpers obsession with everything haveing to be allways balanced 100%. This is NOT possable. So when faced with the choice to make something more fun or more balanced ANET decided to make it more fun. Its not like this is world cup now is it. Its supposed to be a FUN event.

Not in the least. Espicaly if your on the side that has the advantage. Maybe you should learn the meaning of the word better.
